Celebrating Female Football Week at Bonnet Bay

From Friday 8 May to Sunday 17 May, Bonnet Bay FC joins clubs right across the country to celebrate Female Football Week — a chance to recognise the incredible women and girls in our community. From players, coaches and managers to sponsors, volunteers and supporters, their passion and commitment are the backbone of our club and a big part of what makes BBFC so special.

What is Female Football Week?

Running since 2014, Female Football Week is a nationwide initiative that celebrates the growth of women’s football at every level of the game, and acknowledges the important role women play in shaping it. Its goal is simple: to drive female participation at all levels — and to make sure every girl who wants to play feels welcome to give it a go.

The momentum behind the women’s game has been extraordinary, especially following the success of the Matildas, and here at Lakewood we see that energy every weekend. This week we’re shining a light on the women and girls who make Bonnet Bay the club it is, with stories shared across our socials throughout the week.

Spotlight on our female sponsors

We’re especially proud to spotlight three wonderful women behind some of our club’s most loyal sponsors — and to thank them for their ongoing support and involvement in the BBFC community.

Carla — Wyze Finance

Carla from Wyze Finance: I love playing football and forget the worries of the world whilst playing. I would happily celebrate Female Football Week every week!

Carla started playing in the W30s with BBFC back in 2006 and went on to enjoy an incredible 19-year playing journey with the club. Since then she has contributed in almost every capacity imaginable — as a player, coach, manager and committee member, including roles as Women’s Coordinator and Vice President. Today she manages the AW02 team and serves on the club’s oversight committee. Through her business, Wyze Finance, Carla has been a valued club sponsor since 2018, and BBFC members and families can access special offers for guidance on buying a home, investment property, a new car, or business and equipment finance.

Emily, Carmen & Kelsie — Jannali Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic

Emily, Carmen and Kelsie from Jannali Physiotherapy: We see firsthand how sport can positively impact physical health, mental wellbeing, resilience and community connection.

Jannali Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic has shared a long-standing connection with BBFC, supporting local footballers and families for many decades. Over the years the team has backed players across all levels of the club, watching many grow from junior football through to senior and representative football. As passionate supporters of women’s football, they’ve loved seeing the incredible growth in female participation across the game, and are proud to support female athletes both on and off the field — helping players recover from injury, improve performance and build confidence throughout their football journey.

Georgia from The Prince Kirrawee: It's great seeing how much the game has grown over the years, and it's important to keep that momentum going so girls feel confident to get involved and give it a go.

The Prince Kirrawee has been a proud major sponsor of Bonnet Bay FC for more than six years, supporting the club and the wider local community both on and off the field. Through Georgia’s involvement, The Prince has become a valued part of the Bonnet Bay community, helping create a welcoming environment where players, families and supporters can come together — whether it’s catching the game with friends, enjoying a meal with family, or supporting local sport.
